Careers guidance

In April 2015, Challney High School for Boys was re-awarded the prestigious Investors in Careers Award; the school has been award holders since 2006. This demonstrates the commitment by the School for the provision of quality careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG), giving all students the knowledge, skills and positive attitudes associated with successful transition from school to work and adult life.

The Careers Coordinator works closely with the subject departments, the PSHE Team and the Single Conversation Teams to provide a thorough guidance and information program from Year 7 onwards. We work in partnership with external agencies, local employers and colleges, to provide a comprehensive package that enables our students to make choices about their potential career path.

In Year 10, the pupils embark on a two week Work Experience placement, combined with the careers package in PSHE; this helps them to prepare for the variety of interviews and choices ahead of them.
